Intensive Couple’s Counseling

“We need help, but we can’t take time off work and arrange extra child care every week.”

“Things are going downhill, and we don’t want to let it get beyond repair.”

“We’re doing okay, but our marriage could use a tune-up. We want to be better friends.”

“We can’t afford to take things slow.”

These are the kinds of things we hear from couples who need the opportunity to dive in, and quickly navigate the problems and get into the deeper layers of their relationship. The good news is, you don’t have to wait around, hoping that things will get better. In Couple’s Intensives from Family Wholeness, we work hard to build back the friendship and intimacy in your relationship, and take steps forward through the areas you’ve gotten stuck.

Intensives are structured, but flex with the specific needs of the marriage. We work on resolving stubborn conflicts, strengthening friendship, improving communication, dealing with the aftermath of fights, and discovering tools you can start using the same day.

The typical format for Couple’s Intensives includes:

  • Online written pre-assessment for each spouse
  • 2 hour virtual initial appointment
  • 8½ hour Intensive on a Friday or Saturday (virtual or in-person in Grand Rapids)
  • 2 hour virtual follow-up a few weeks later

Intensives are based on 40 years of clinical marriage research at the Gottman Institute.
